Event Alert: Australian HR Awards 2014

Australian HR Awards 2014

Arguably the premier awards of their type in Australia, the 2014 Australian HR Awards Ceremony kicks off on Friday the 5th of September at Doltone House, Darling Island in Sydney and, as always, will include an award for ‘Best Learning and Development Strategy’.

It’s also a great opportunity to network with others in the HR/OD/L&D community and, of course, have a drink or two with them!

Cheers, Sam

Event Alert – HR Summit(s) 2012 dates & details

I went to a couple of the HR Summits last year and have to say that, on the whole, they were well worth attending. This year’s events look good too, not in the least because it’s the their 10th anniversary so they’re putting some extra effort into it.

Unfortunately the Sydney event has already been held (at Luna Park, which must have been a great venue), but Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth are yet to happen.

Of course, being an all-round HR event, it’s not all relevent to those of us in the L&D/OD world, however, it’s got plenty that is and so is well worth checking out…I just need to hit the boss up for the money for the ticket now!!! Continue reading

Event(s) Alert – Delivering Change Management: A Panel Discussion 13th and 20th Oct

Another event alert for you but I’m glad to say that this one’s for free!!! Cliftons (the organisation that provides training and event venues…very good ones too!) are hosting a couple of forums on Change Management. Aside from being free of charge to attend and having several good speakers lined up (as well as the panel discussion), these things are also great from a networking point of view.

The first one is in Melbourne from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on the 13th of Oct and the second is one is in Sydney, 5.30pm to 7.30pm on the 20th of Oct (both at Cliftons of course).

The website states… Continue reading

Event Alert – Australian HR Awards – 28th Oct 2011

I know, I know, I generally don’t do posts on generic HR stuff but the HR awards are pretty big and they’re run by HC Mag, where I get a fair bit of info for this site, so it seems only fair to do a bit of a plug for their main event.

This year’s HR awards are on Friday 28th of October at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. The blurb from the website says… Continue reading

Event Alert – HR Summit – Brisbane 5th-6th Oct 2011

If I’m absolutely honest I wouldn’t normally have done an event alert for the HR Summit. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great event (indeed, it’s possibly Australia’s largest HR focussed event) with some outstanding speakers, but it’s quite a lot of money to spend if you’re in the L&D/OD world as the topics obviously tend to cover the far broader HR issues, which means you can end up spending a lot of time listening to stuff that’s interesting but not really relevant to your area.

However, I’ve had a look at the agenda for the Brisbane event next month and I have to say that there’s a fair bit in there that I’d be keen to hear, including: Continue reading

Event Alert – 24th ICDE conference – 2nd to 5th Oct

Like the last event alert, I’m afraid this is another one for those of you with a very understanding boss and/or board and a decent travel budget (if so, luck you!).

The 24th ICDE (International Council for Open and Distance Learning) conference is being hosted by Universitas Terbuka, Indonesia, and will take place in Nusa Dua on the island of Bali from the 2nd to the 5th of October.

This year’s conference theme is ‘Expanding horizons – new approaches to ODL’ and lists the following sub-themes:

  • ODL and human capacity building
  • ODL in a changing world
  • Quality and ODL in the future
  • Management and strategic development of ODL
  • OERs in a global world
  • International development and distance learning
